QUENTIN PUGH

Quentin Pugh has been a member of YouthSPEAK, a youth led, youth run social action group of RYASAP, since 2008. He is involved with Start Strong Bridgeport because he has witnessed the affects of dating violence. He feels that by joining Start Strong, he will be able to educate himself about dating violence, while helping many teens get out of abusive relationships.

Quentin was chosen to be a youth representative because of his leadership skills and commitment to service. He is very open-minded to others and has no problem with voicing his opinion on any subject. Quentin is the president of the African American Cultural Club (AACC) at his school. He also works with elementary school children two days a week at Hallen School in Bridgeport. For him Malcolm X’s words reign true, “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it.”  He feels that it is important to be involved in his community and to educate others about issues that affect the world.

Quentin is the co-chair of YouthSPEAK. He enjoys playing the piano, listening to music, hanging out with friends, and discussing issues that are important to him. Quentin plans on going to college to major in Psychology or Child Psychology, and minor in Culinary Arts and Music.
