Indiana University Health, a member of the Start Strong Learning Community, is the lead organization for Start Strong Indianapolis. As part of this four-year initiative, Start Strong Indianapolis will be implementing the Start Strong model by:

  • Introducing Safe Dates, a healthy relationships curriculum, into health classes which will be co-taught by peer advocates, as well as incorporating a 2-day healthy relationship booster program into 8th grade classrooms
  • Teaming with parents, caregivers, healthcare providers, coaches, and other youth serving organizations to reach the greater Indianapolis community
  • Working with the Department of Education to enhance current policies and influence new policies throughout Indiana schools that address sexual harassment, bullying, and violence
  • Engaging teens as digital influencers through the use of Web pages, videos, banners, online PSAs, interactive surveys, and other digitally-connected widgets connected to MySpace and Facebook pages
