Eritrea Ghebrehiwet is involved in Start Strong Indianapolis, because she wants to raise awareness about teen dating violence and abuse.  Having been in a long-term abusive relationship, Eritrea hopes to share her story and mentor younger teens so they can avoid dating violence in their own lives.

As a Start Strong teen leader, Eritrea will be working with Start Strong Indianapolis on their social marketing campaign. Eritrea will help to educate youth about healthy relationships because she knows that teens learn best from their peers.  She hopes that she can make a difference having learned from her own experience. 

In addition to her work with Start Strong, Eritrea has been a long-time leader in her community, helping Eritreans like herself who immigrated with their families to the United States, earn their high school diplomas and take pride in their heritage and culture. She has also worked to improve relationships between Eritrean students and American students.
