Amber Johnson has been an active member of Young Voices, a partner of Start Strong Providence, for more than a year and stands out as one of the most articulate and talented members of the group.  She quickly became a key speaker for Young Voices, representing the group at a major press conference and has been a highlighted speaker at Education Forums. Through Young Voices she has passionately spoken on a variety of issues including healthy relationships and dating violence at the State House and in meetings with community leaders, such as Providence’s Police Chief.

Amber was selected to represent Start Strong Providence because she genuinely cares about the issue. “I truly believe in empowerment and a world where dating violence does not exist.”

Amber’s commitment to social change does not end with Young Voices.  She recently went on a mission trip with her local church to tutor young people in one of the poorest cities in Alabama.

Amber’s gift for public speaking has also led her to win Rhode Island’s Poetry Out Loud contest, where she then advanced to national competition, placing 24th out of more than 300,000 contestants.
