Alexis Marie Johnson is a Start Strong Wichita youth leader because she truly cares about the cause. “What I want to give to this program is my heart.” Alexis has witnessed the damaging effects of dating violence. “When I hear girls or guys say, ‘She deserved it,’ I hurt inside.”  For Alexis it is important that teens understand how serious dating abuse is. Men need to know that it’s not funny and that their mothers or daughters could become a victim.  Alexis is enthusiastic about the role she will play as a teen representative.  “I am so excited about what’s in front of me and I hope other students take the same opportunities as I did.”

Alexis was chosen to be a teen representative for Start Strong Wichita not only because she cares about the issue, but also because of her drive. Alexis is involved in many leadership projects at her school. Alexis believes that education is important and her academic achievement highlights this.

Alexis has ambitions to one day become a lawyer, or possibly even president of the United States. Alexis loves to be involved and believes that she truly can make a difference.
