START STRONG BRIDGEPORT HOSTS MYOSCARS EVENT
On February 25, Start Strong Bridgeport held their annual MYOscars event, which bought close to 200 students and members of the Bridgeport community together. The top five films of 2010 that show what’s “right in relationships” included “Alice in Wonderland,” “Why Did I Get Married, Too?,” “Kick Ass,” The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” and “Valentine’s Day,” which won the Rated R Film of the Year Award. Start Strong Bridgeport used their “Rated R” rating system, which evaluates movies, music, television and other forms of media by how “Real, Responsible, Respect, and Right” they are, to select the MYOscars nominees. Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal, Bridgeport City Council President Tom McCarthy, Police Chief Joe Gaudett and hundreds of others walked the red carpet prior to the event. Start Strong Bridgeport also released a documentary about their Rated R rating system, which can be viewed here: http://myospace.org/ratedrdocumentary/.
