START STRONG REPRESENTATIVES NAMED TO OVW NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

 

Debbie Lee, senior vice president of the Family Violence Prevention Fund, Start Strong’s National Program Office, and Amber Johnson, a teen leader from Start Strong Rhode Island, are two of 14 experts and leaders named to the U.S. Office on Violence Against Women’s (OVW) new National Advisory Committee on Violence Against Women. The Committee, which consists of advocates, researchers, and justice system and child welfare professionals, will be responsible for providing advice and recommendations to the Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services on how to improve the country’s response to violence against women. The Committee, which will meet twice a year, will focus on successful interventions with children and teens who witness and/or are victimized by domestic violence or sexual assault.
