The NY Times has a story about how a conference was held to teach 200 teenagers from Boston how to have "healthy breakups". Unsurprisingly, a lot of the discussion revolved around proper Facebook breakup etiquette.We've covered how to handle the modern day breakup and even gave you the 7 steps to breaking up online before. But still, no one seems to know what's the best way to handle online breakups. One kid said "racing to update his relationship status after a breakup" was healthy. Others said no way. Some people talked about how they learned about breakups through Facebook. While others said they have enough problems to worry about "some stupid boy breaking up with me on Facebook". › more

The Shakespearean play Othello, is a classic portrayal of the deadly toll relationship violence can have on partners. In it, the main character Othello believes his wife has been unfaithful and in retaliation, smothers her, before taking his own life.Though written in the 17th century, Othello tackles issues that are still relevant today – namely the dangers of abusive behaviors that affect 1 in 5 adolescent females and 1 in 10 adolescent males each year. › more

Educating Teens and Community Leaders - Start Strong Austin Spreads the Word about Healthy Relationships

Last week, the Boston area was shocked to hear that the body of Wayland, Mass., high-school graduate Lauren Astley, 18, was found in a marsh in what looks to be an act of teen domestic violence that occurred after Astley ended a three-year relationship with her boyfriend Nathaniel Fujita.
